Home and the diaspora, in one place
Millions of Zimbabweans live outside the country — in South Africa, the UK, Australia, Botswana — and most random-chat sites give you no way to find them. On Chitmet, leave the country filter open in the evening and you meet people from home who are abroad; set it to Zimbabwe and you only meet people inside the country.
A chat here is private and one-on-one, with nothing on show but your name, your gender and, if you want, your country. Pick interests — the Warriors, Zimdancehall, Business, Movies, Gaming, Church, Tech — and the shared ones are listed when you connect. Keep in touch requests only turn into friendships when both sides agree.
When Zimbabwe is online
With the country set to Zimbabwe, the queue is busiest from about 8 pm to 11 pm, and ZESA’s schedule shapes it: an evening without power is an evening on the phone. When few people at home are free, switch the country filter from Strict to Preferred — matching starts in Zimbabwe and spreads outwards, usually to South Africa and Zambia first.
Harare is on Central Africa Time, the same clock as Johannesburg and Lusaka, one hour behind the UK in summer and three and a half hours behind India.
EcoCash tricks and what stays private
A mistaken EcoCash deposit that must go straight back, a job or visa that needs a processing fee, a new friend who is short of airtime every week — the tricks are well known, and all of them are a reason to press Report and Block. Nothing on Chitmet ever requires your EcoCash PIN, your ID number or money, and the moderators act on every report.
The people you chat with never see your phone number. Calls are not recorded by Chitmet, pictures and voice notes only arrive after you allow media, and the service is for adults only.
