Parler en français? Use the French page
Québec, parts of New Brunswick and Ontario, and francophone communities across the country chat in French. Chitmet’s French landing page at /fr explains everything in French, and setting the language filter to French matches you with francophones from Canada, France, Belgium, Switzerland and the Maghreb. Add the Canada country filter to keep it to Canadians.
The app interface is still in English; the conversation is in whatever language you choose.
What makes a good Canadian stranger chat
Interests do the work. Add hockey, the Leafs or the Habs, camping, Tim’s, the weather (it is always a topic), university life or whichever city you are in. Chitmet shows shared interests the moment you connect, so the first message writes itself.
If the conversation is good, both of you can agree to a voice call. If it is not, Skip — it asks you to confirm so you do not lose a good chat by accident.
Privacy under Canadian expectations
Chitmet never asks for your phone number, never uses your camera, and never shares your email with the person you talk to. Chitmet does not record calls; only if you report a call does your phone send its last few minutes to moderators, and they are deleted after 7 days. Report and Block are in every chat and a moderation team reviews reports.
