A chat for a country of newcomers
Moving to the UAE usually means leaving friends and family a few time zones away. Work is busy, shared accommodation is crowded, and making new friends outside the office takes time. Chitmet is a simple way to talk to someone new at the end of the day — by text, or by a voice call when both of you want one.
Because there is no camera, it also works in the places people actually are: a shared room, a staff bus, a break room. Nobody sees your face, your flat or your uniform. The other person sees the show name you choose, your gender and, only if you turn it on, your country.
When the UAE is online
With the UAE filter on, evenings from about 10 pm to 1 am UAE time are busiest. If you are up at an odd hour after a shift and the local queue is quiet, set the country filter to Preferred instead of Strict — Chitmet starts with the UAE and widens step by step while you wait.
The UAE is an hour and a half behind India, an hour behind Pakistan and four hours behind the Philippines, so your evening is already late night back home for a lot of people. Leave the country on Any country, pick Malayalam, Urdu or Filipino, and you can talk to people at home and across the Gulf in your own language.
Picking a language
English gives you the widest queue. Arabic matches you with Arabic speakers in the Emirates and, with the country left open, across the Gulf, the Levant and North Africa — and there is a full Arabic version of the site at /ar. Typed in Roman letters, Hindi and Urdu are close enough that either filter gets a conversation going.
Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali and Filipino are there for some of the biggest communities in the country. Add interests — Sports, Food, Travel, Movies, Business, Fitness — and Chitmet shows what you share as soon as you connect. There is also a Business Networking intent if you would rather talk shop than make small talk.
Safety and scams
Your email and phone number are never shared with the people you talk to, and calls are not recorded by Chitmet. Voice calls depend on your network; text chat works on any connection that can load a website. If a chat goes well, send a Keep in touch request — you only become friends if the other person accepts.
Be careful with anyone who asks for money, gift cards or a "small loan", offers a job if you pay a fee first, or wants to move the chat to another app straight away — those are scam patterns. Report and Block them. Automated checks catch spam and scam links in real time, human moderators review reports, and Chitmet is 18+ only.
