Chitmet vs Thundr: the short version
Thundr and Chitmet start from the same belief: random chat works better when you are matched on something you both care about. Thundr pairs you one-on-one by video or text based on the interests you choose, adds gender and location filters, and runs in the browser and as an Android app. It is 18+ only and uses AI-assisted moderation backed by human review.
The differences are format and friction. Thundr is video or text, and its own pages describe signing in with a username and password or a Google or Apple account. Chitmet is text or voice, never video, and you can start as a guest with just a show name. Claim a free username later if you want people to find you again.
Why voice instead of video
Thundr lets you skip the camera by choosing text, which is a good option to have. But between typing and being on camera there is a big gap: hearing someone. Chitmet fills it. You can start a random voice call directly, or turn any text chat into an audio-only call when both people accept. Calls never ask for your camera, are not recorded by Chitmet (only a reported call’s last few minutes reach moderators, deleted after 7 days), and use far less data than video on a phone.
Voice also changes the tone of a conversation. Laughter, accents and pauses carry much of the warmth people look for in video — without the pressure of showing your face, your room or your background to a stranger.
Filters, safety and the small things
On Chitmet, interest, country and language filters are free, with 32 languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Spanish and Arabic; the gender filter is in Premium. A Vibe Match score shows what you share. Photos and voice notes only come through after the other person allows media, an accidental Next can be undone for a few seconds, and Keep in Touch keeps two people connected only when both want it.
Skip, Report and Block are in every chat. Automated checks flag spam, scam links and phone-number fishing in real time, and human moderators review reports.
Where Thundr is the better fit
If you want face-to-face video, Thundr has it and Chitmet never will. If you prefer a native Android app to a browser tab, or you enjoy collecting coins from a daily crate and spending them on Boosts, Thundr is built for that. If you would rather talk without a camera — and without signing in first — Chitmet is one tap away.
