A conversation, not a performance
Random video chat turned meeting strangers into a performance — camera on, judged before you say a word. Chitmet is text and voice only. The other person sees your show name, your gender and, if you choose, your country. That is enough to start a real conversation, and it is why people who would never switch a camera on use it.
Interests do the introduction: pick Football, Music, Movies, Business, Gaming, Faith or Tech and whatever you have in common shows up as soon as you connect. Someone worth keeping? Send a Keep in touch request — it only goes through if they accept it too.
When Uganda is online
With the country set to Uganda, roughly 9 pm to midnight is the busiest window. If it is quiet, change the country filter from Strict to Preferred — matching starts in Uganda and reaches outwards a step at a time, usually to Kenya and Tanzania first, so you are not left waiting.
Uganda shares East Africa Time with Kenya, Tanzania and the Gulf states and sits two and a half hours behind India. Ugandans on contracts in Dubai or Doha, or studying in the UK, are online in their own evening, and an open country filter is how you find them.
Mobile money tricks and privacy
The Ugandan version of the con is familiar: a mobile money "deposit" that arrived by mistake and must be returned, a job that needs a registration fee, a sweet stranger who needs airtime. Chitmet never needs your MTN MoMo or Airtel Money PIN, your NIN or a shilling from you, and neither does anyone you meet here — Report and Block, and the moderators take it from there.
Your number is never revealed to the people you chat with, voice calls are not recorded, and pictures or voice notes only arrive after the other person has allowed media. Chitmet is for adults (18+) only.
