Why a no-camera chat fits Nepal
Random video chat was never a good fit for most people in Nepal. It needs a strong connection and a lot of data, and it puts your face in front of strangers who can record it. Chitmet removes the camera completely. You talk by text, or by a voice call that runs inside the browser, and the other person sees the show name you choose and your gender, never your face.
Without a camera there is no pressure to be somewhere quiet and presentable, either. You can chat from a hostel room, from a shop counter after closing, or from a bus between cities — wherever a conversation with someone new fits into the day.
When Nepal is online
With the Nepal filter on, the busiest time is roughly 9 pm to midnight Nepal time. Nepal’s UTC+5:45 is unusual — fifteen minutes ahead of India — but in practice your evening is India’s evening, so with the country set to Any country and Hindi or English chosen, the queue is lively.
A lot of Nepali families have someone abroad. The Gulf is one hour forty-five minutes to two hours forty-five minutes behind Nepal, Malaysia is two and a quarter hours ahead, and Japan and Korea are three and a quarter hours ahead. Leave the country open if you want to talk to people in those places too, or set the Nepal filter to Preferred so it widens when the local queue is quiet.
Nepali, Hindi and English
Pick Nepali (नेपाली) in the language filter to meet Nepali speakers — there is a Nepali chat page too. When the Nepali queue is quiet, Hindi is a practical second choice: Nepali and Hindi share the Devanagari script, and many people in Nepal follow Hindi films and songs, which makes the Hindi filter a practical choice when you want to talk in a language close to home.
Add interests before you start — Sports, Music, Movies, Travel, Study, Gaming — and Chitmet shows what you share the moment you connect. There is also a Language Exchange intent if you want to practise English with someone patient, and a Study Buddy intent for exam season.
Privacy and safety
Your email and phone number are never shared with the people you talk to, and calls are not recorded by Chitmet. Photos and voice notes only come through after the other person allows media. If you skip someone by accident, Undo skip appears for a few seconds so you can go back; if a chat is good, send a Keep in touch request.
If anyone asks for money, an eSewa or Khalti transfer, a mobile recharge, or offers a job abroad in exchange for a fee, that is a scam — Report and Block. Automated checks catch spam and scam links in real time, human moderators review reports, and Chitmet is 18+ only.
