A small country with the whole world in it
Qatar is small, and its people are very mixed: Qataris, and large communities from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, the Philippines, Egypt, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, many working long hours far from family. That makes it an easy place to meet someone interesting and a hard place to find the time.
Chitmet fits into the gaps — ten minutes of conversation at the end of a shift, a voice call on a day off, a new friend who happens to live on the other side of Doha. If a chat goes well, send a Keep in touch request; you only become friends if the other person accepts.
When Qatar is online
With the country set to Qatar, late evening — about 10 pm to 1 am — is when most people are free. If the local queue is quiet, set the country filter to Preferred instead of Strict and Chitmet widens the search step by step while you wait.
Qatar is two and a half hours behind India, two hours behind Pakistan, two hours forty-five minutes behind Nepal, three behind Bangladesh and five behind the Philippines. Leave the country open and pick your language to talk to people back home before they go to sleep.
Picking a language
English gives you the biggest queue. Arabic matches you with Arabic speakers in Qatar and, with the country left open, across the Gulf and the Arab world. Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and Filipino are there for some of the biggest communities in the country.
Nepali has its own option in the language filter too — pick it to meet Nepalis in Qatar and back home, or see the Nepali chat page.
Safety and scams
Your email and phone number are never shared, and calls are not recorded by Chitmet. Keep conversations respectful — local laws apply online as well as offline, and anyone who crosses the line can be reported and blocked in one tap.
Be careful with anyone who asks for money or gift cards, offers a job or a visa if you pay a fee first, or wants to move to another app straight away. Those are scam patterns — Report and Block them. Chitmet is 18+ only.
