Azar vs Chitmet: on camera or off
Azar’s own site describes it as face-to-face video chat — "not just messages or profiles". You choose a gender and country, press Start Video Chat and meet people on camera, and Azar’s recommendation algorithm tries to find more people like the ones you enjoyed. Choosing who you meet by gender or region costs Gems.
Chitmet never uses a camera. You are matched one-on-one for a text chat, and either person can turn it into an audio-only call when both accept. You pick interests, a country and a language — all free — and see a Vibe Match score of what you share.
Why some people would rather not be on video
Video shows far more than a face: your room, your surroundings, sometimes your street. A screenshot or a screen recording can end up anywhere, and many people simply do not want to be seen by a stranger at 1 am. Text and voice keep the conversation about what you say.
It is also lighter: a text chat uses almost no mobile data and a voice call far less than video, which matters on a weak connection or a small data pack.
Filters without buying anything
On Chitmet the country and language filters are free for everyone, so you can meet people from Egypt, India, Turkey or Indonesia — or keep it to your own language — without paying. The gender filter is part of an optional Premium plan; text chat, voice calls and every safety tool stay free.
Skip, Report and Block are in every chat, photos only arrive after you allow media, and human moderators review reports. Chitmet is 18+ only.
Where Azar is the better fit
If seeing the other person is the point, Azar is built for it and Chitmet is not — there is no video on Chitmet at all. If you want to meet new people by talking or typing, without a camera or an app, Chitmet is.
