After Omegle and OmeTV
Omegle had an enormous following in Indonesia, and since it closed in November 2023 OmeTV clips have been everywhere on Indonesian TikTok and YouTube. Both are built around the camera, and the camera is where most of the problems happen — the exposure, the harassment, the screenshots. Chitmet keeps the part people liked, one tap and a stranger, and removes the camera entirely: text and voice only.
The chat is private and one-on-one, not a room. Add interests — K-pop, Football, Anime, Gaming, Music, Business, Travel — and Chitmet shows what you share as soon as you connect. If the conversation is good, send a Keep in touch request; you only become friends if the other person accepts.
When Indonesia is online
With the country set to Indonesia, about 9 pm to 1 am Jakarta time (WIB) is the busiest stretch — later in the east, where Makassar and Papua are one and two hours ahead. If the local queue is quiet, choose Preferred instead of Strict and Chitmet starts with Indonesia, then widens the search step by step while you wait, usually to Malaysia first.
Indonesia’s evening overlaps with the evening in India (WIB is one and a half hours ahead of India) and with the afternoon in the Gulf, so leaving the country open and choosing English finds plenty of people to practise with.
Scams and privacy
The common scams are a job or "investment" that needs a small transfer first, a sudden romance that asks for pulsa or an e-wallet top-up, and anyone who wants to move the chat to another app straight away. Nobody on Chitmet ever needs your e-wallet PIN, your KTP number or money. Report and Block anyone who asks; the moderators act on reports.
Your phone number is never shared with the people you chat to, and Chitmet does not record calls. Photos and voice notes only come through after the other person allows media. Chitmet is 18+ only.
