Y99 vs Chitmet: a room or a match
Y99 is organised around rooms. Its homepage lists dozens of them — Music, Gaming, Anime, English Learning, Singles, Sports, News, Random Chat and more — and you can enter as a guest without signing up. Around the rooms it has extras for groups: simple games, a shared whiteboard called Y99 Draw and Y99 Watch for watching videos together.
Chitmet has no rooms. Press Start and you are paired with one person for a private chat, chosen by the interests, country and language you pick. A Vibe Match score shows what you have in common before the first message, and nobody else can read the conversation.
Why a private match suits some people better
In a busy room the fastest typists and the loudest regulars set the tone, and a quiet newcomer is easy to miss. In a one-on-one match both people start even: you are paired by what you are looking for, not by who stands out in a member list. If it is not working, Skip — and if you skipped by mistake, Undo brings the chat back for a few seconds.
If you click with someone, both of you can press Keep in Touch and talk again another day, without swapping phone numbers or Instagram handles.
Hindi, Hinglish and voice
Most people on Chitmet in India type Hinglish, and the language filter covers Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Assamese, Urdu, Nepali and Sinhala. When typing gets slow, either person can invite the other to an audio-only voice call; it starts only when both accept and is not recorded by Chitmet.
Photos, videos and voice notes only come through after the other person allows media. Skip, Report and Block are in every chat, automated checks flag spam and phone-number fishing, and human moderators review reports. Chitmet is 18+ only.
Where Y99 is the better fit
If you enjoy group conversation, topic rooms, browser games or watching videos together, Y99 offers all of that and Chitmet does not — Chitmet is strictly one-on-one, never video, and its games are small two-person activities inside a chat. If you want a quiet, private conversation with one person who shares your language or interests, Chitmet is built for it.
