Who picks Hindi
People from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand; students preparing for exams in Kota, Prayagraj or Mukherjee Nagar; and Hindi speakers working in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Dubai or Riyadh. Many speak Bhojpuri, Awadhi, Haryanvi or Marwari at home and switch to Hindi with someone new.
Type in Devanagari or Roman Hindi — most people write Hinglish ("kya scene hai?"). For a guide written in Hinglish, see the Baat karne wala app page.
Things to talk about
Cricket and the latest Bollywood release, a web series everyone is quoting, shayari, preparation for UPSC, SSC or NEET, hostel and PG life, chai versus coffee, your city’s best chaat or momos, or simply how the day went. Add interests and the Vibe Match score tells you what you share.
Hindi chat room vs Chitmet
A Hindi chat room is one public space where everyone talks over everyone and bots paste links. Chitmet gives you one private conversation at a time: Skip anyone instantly, and tap Keep in Touch with the people you like so you can talk again. There is no video mode, so nobody can ask you to turn on a camera.
Baat karo, voice call par
If typing gets slow, turn the chat into an audio-only call once you both accept. It runs in the browser, no number is exchanged and Chitmet does not record calls — and you can always go back to text.
Common traps
Fake KBC lottery messages, "your account will be blocked — update KYC" links and part-time "like and earn" jobs all start with a friendly chat. Never share an OTP, UPI PIN or Aadhaar number, and never pay money to receive a prize. Report and Block take one tap.
