Punjabi on both sides of the border, and abroad
Punjabi is spoken in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and Mohali, by millions in Lahore, Faisalabad and the rest of Pakistani Punjab, and by a huge diaspora in Brampton, Surrey, Southall, Melbourne and California. Choose ਪੰਜਾਬੀ and leave the country open, and any of them can be the next person you meet.
Type in Gurmukhi, Shahmukhi or Roman Punjabi — "ki haal aa?" is how most people start. Majhi, Doabi, Malwai or Puadhi, everyone understands each other well enough, and a quick voice call settles the rest.
What Punjabis chat about
The newest track from Diljit, Karan Aujla or AP Dhillon, kabaddi and cricket, IELTS bands and study visas, Lohri and Vaisakhi plans, farming and mandi prices, the best dhaba on the highway, or what student life in Canada is really like. Add interests such as Music, Sports, Study or Travel and the Vibe Match score shows what you share.
Midnight in Punjab, afternoon in Canada
Toronto and Brampton are 9½ hours behind India in summer and 10½ in winter; Vancouver and Surrey are 12½ or 13½ hours behind. So at midnight in Ludhiana it is early afternoon in Brampton — the easiest time to meet the diaspora with the country filter left open. The UK is 4½ hours behind (5½ in winter), so Indian late evening is British teatime.
Say it out loud
Punjabi is a language for talking, not typing. When you both accept, switch the chat to an audio-only call in the browser — no number shared, no camera, and Chitmet does not record it.
Watch out for visa and job offers
Anyone in a chat who promises a guaranteed visa, an IELTS score without the exam or a job abroad "for a small file fee" is running a scam. Never send money, passport copies or an OTP to someone you met online. Report and Block take one tap; Chitmet is 18+ and moderated.
