Kannada speakers you will meet
Most are in Karnataka — Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi, Davanagere, Kalaburagi — plus Kannadigas working in Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, the Gulf and the US. Dharwad Kannada, Mysuru Kannada and coastal Kannada all sound different, and many people on the coast speak Tulu or Konkani at home and Kannada outside.
In Bengaluru you can get through a whole working day without speaking Kannada. Picking ಕನ್ನಡ in the filter is an easy way to switch back to it with someone who answers in Kannada too. Type in Kannada script or Roman Kannada ("hegidiya?") — both are fine.
