One language, two countries
Bangla is spoken in Kolkata, Siliguri, Durgapur and Agartala on one side of the border and in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna and Rajshahi on the other, with big communities in London, the Gulf, Malaysia and New York. Leave the country filter open and you will meet both — Sylheti and Chatgaiya accents included.
Type in Bangla script or Roman Bangla ("ki koro?"). Chitmet does not translate; it prefers people who chose বাংলা. In Bangladesh many people greet with "Assalamu alaikum" rather than "Nomoshkar" — both are normal here.
What to talk about
Mohun Bagan versus East Bengal, Brazil versus Argentina (a serious question in Bangladesh), cricket, Durga Puja pandal-hopping, Pohela Boishakh, Rabindrasangeet and new bands, Satyajit Ray films and Bangladeshi natoks, ilish season, or an adda that runs far too long. Add interests and the Vibe Match score shows what you share.
Not another Bangla chat room
Public chat rooms are noisy and full of bots. Chitmet gives you one private conversation at a time, with Skip for the misses and Keep in Touch for the people worth talking to again. No video mode exists, so nobody can ask you to switch a camera on.
Bangla voice calls
When you both accept, move from typing to an audio-only call in the browser. No phone number is shared, and Chitmet does not record calls.
Mobile-money scams
In Bangladesh, never share a bKash or Nagad PIN or OTP — "I sent money to your number by mistake, please send it back" is a scam. In India the same goes for UPI PINs and "KYC update" links. Report and Block take one tap; Chitmet is 18+ and moderated.
