Chitmet vs Joingy: same simplicity, more control
Joingy launched in 2018 and has kept things minimal ever since. Its homepage offers two options — a private one-on-one webcam call, where you share live video and audio with a stranger, or an anonymous text chat that needs no camera or microphone. There is no registration, it runs in desktop and mobile browsers, and matching is random: the interests box is marked “coming soon”.
Chitmet starts the same way — no account, nothing to install — but lets you shape the match. Add interests, choose a country or one of 32 languages, and a Vibe Match score shows what you share before you say hello. Country and language filters can be Strict, or Preferred so they widen when nobody fits.
A middle option: voice
On Joingy, your choices are typing or a webcam call. Chitmet adds the option in between: an audio-only voice call. Either person can invite the other from a text chat, the call starts only when both accept, and nothing is recorded. There is no video mode at all, so nobody can ask you to turn a camera on — and voice uses far less data than video on a phone.
Safety tools inside the chat
Joingy runs detection systems in the background and has a moderation team that reviews reports; you flag someone after you disconnect. On Chitmet, Skip, Report and Block are in every chat, and you can still report or block someone from your match history after pressing Next. Automated checks flag spam, scam links and phone-number fishing in real time, and human moderators review reports.
Photos, videos and voice notes only come through after the other person allows media, and if you press Next by accident you have a few seconds to undo it.
Where Joingy is the better fit
If you want webcam chat, Joingy has it and Chitmet never will. Joingy also lets you hold several conversations at once in separate browser tabs, and its site mentions no paid tier at all. If you want to pick who you meet, or to talk out loud without a camera, Chitmet is the better match.
